The Enviro-Award

A new framework for increasing environmental performance and business efficiency.

The EnviroAward is a scheme aimed at businesses in the beginning stages of environmental management. It has been developed to provide independent verification that your organisation has laid the foundations of environmental management and are a company committed to improving environmental performance.

The EnviroAward has a number of benefits:

• Demonstrating genuine commitment to environmental practice
• Increasing green credentials
• Can help make the business more competitive by being able to answer pre qualification surveys and tenders for environmental credentials
• Independently checked scheme-therefore provides objectivity
• Moral benefits – reduce the impact your business has on the environment

To obtain this award you must demonstrate commitment to environmental good practice by providing the following:

• Competent person
• Genuine Environmental Policy
• A robust programme of SMART environmental objectives and targets to demonstrate a commitment to continual improvement
• Evidence of progress against at least 2 of these targets

You will be provided with the following support to help you to achieve your award:

• Detailed explanation and guidance of the criteria summarised above
• Option of half price place on IEMA approved Environmental Awareness online NCFE level 2 qualification (£50+ VAT)
• Guidance notes (including how to write an environmental policy and set SMART objectives and targets)
• Up to 2 hours telephone support (e.g. to help you to write your objectives and targets)

Once this evidence has been successfully assessed you will receive:

• The EnviroAward logo to place on your website.  This will link to a verification certificate which can also be printed should you wish (e.g. to display in your reception or submit with tender submissions).  Please note this code and verification certificate is valid for one year only.
• You will have the option for an annual reassessment to demonstrate you still have all the above requirements in place and that you have made progress against objectives and targets and set new objectives and targets.
• There will be advice about what your next steps might be on the environmental management path.
