'Schools Against Waste' Online CoursesSchools Against Waste is an innovative, interactive online learning programme that is freely available for schools in the North East of England. Primarily targeted at students, it is also an excellent knowledge building tool that can benefit teachers and other staff. The development of the course has been coordinated by the North East Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership in close collaboration with the region’s 12 Local Authorities. The Environmental Academy was tasked with both writing the course content and implementing the bespoke e-Learning platform. The Schools Against Waste content focuses on waste issues in relation to homes and schools. This includes waste collection, management and sorting, reuse and recycling, waste prevention and how waste impacts the environment. It also references the DCSF Sustainable Schools Strategy and the Keep Britain Tidy Eco Schools programme. The content has been designed to engage students and incorporates a dynamic mix of videos, interviews and interactive games to assist and build on the learning process. |
